Must Have Essential Oils

Jul 15, 2024Holly MacKinnon

There’s a reason the word “essential” is in the name “essential oils.” For some people, they are quite literally an essential product; a necessity they require for everyday purposes. In fact, many people use essential oils as a form of alternative medicine. If you’re prone to more holistic approaches to healing ailments and curing certain symptoms, essential oils are perfect for you.

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oil is obtained through distillation via steam or cold pressing. Once the aromatic properties of the plant are extracted, they are combined with a carrier oil to create an essential oil. It’s important to pay attention to how the oil is made as those made through chemical processes are not considered true essential oils.

The idea is to capture the plant’s scent, or essence, and then use those properties for certain healing benefits. Each plant has its own unique aromatic characteristics that can be used for different purposes.
